Prophetic Slander

To really honest with you, I am sick of this election season. I guess the worst part of it is listening to all the Christians, especially some charismatic Christians who have a super-inflated view of their spiritual intuitiveness.

I am rather disappointed in those believers who are so afraid of Barack Obama that they have searched the Scripture, drew up a flimsy case trying to prove that Obama is the Anti-Christ. I keep getting "prophetic words" in emails about this election and Senator Obama. My suspicion is that they cannot grasp the possibility of an African-American serving as the next president so they slander him by calling him the Anti-Christ to instill fear in other believers.

The point I want to make is that your fear of a man has clouded your fear of God. If a believer truly fears the Lord, they won't fear a man. Listen to what the Apostle Peter said while the churches in Asia Minor were being persecuted by Caesar: "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: Whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king (1 Peter 2:13-17)." In other words, don't slander our leaders. Submit to them even if you don't like them. Don't make up stuff and call it a "prophetic word." Scripture has already made clear what we need to know about this election - submit to authority and honor your leaders. It's that simple. We don't need another prophetic word, because God doesn't contradict Himself! THE CANON IS CLOSED! True Christians aren't palm readers!

Oh, and by the way, there is nothing in Scripture supporting the claim that the Anti-Christ will be muslim.

Listen, I will not vote for Obama because I don't like his policy. But, God is going to put in office who HE wants in office. God's providence is very real and He is very in control. Instead of being on your knees praying against Obama, you should be on your knees asking God to forgive you for your lack of faith.

But, what do I know?
